Aechmea chantinii cultivar 'Black' is an outstanding cultivated clone of a variable Amazonian specie. This one has the mark of a careful selection process to attain tight even banding between the silvery/white scurfing and blackish tones of the alternate green/brown. I've yet to bloom this but there are some good photos on the FCBS website.

Per the BSI registry: cv. of chantinii w/very dark chocolate brown silver banded leaves - Type inflorescence w/red-orange bracts and branches tipped in yellow.

I look forward to continuing to grow this beauty in the future. Enjoy.
