Aechmea cylindrata

Aechmea cylindrata an Ortgiesia from Sao Paulo state, Brazil. The name refers to the cylindrical inflorescence. The huckleberry colored bracts enhance the petal coloration. Unfortunately it has a short lived flowering period but is a striking bromeliad when it does. Likes humidity and lower light levels.

I acquired this as Ae. cylindrata var. micrantha, which now is considered just plan cylindrata.
