Aechmea nudicaulis var. nordestina (Alba) is an interesting oddity from the widely variable nudicaulis group. This clone type is a tight plain green tubular bromeliad about 14-16 inches in height. The sepals and stem seem to 'yellow up' at bloom time.

I acquired this at a Tropiflora Sale with a label ID: Nudicaulis 'Alba' which had originally been offered in their Cargo Report. I believe this since has been changed to var. nordestina. The record on the FCBS indicates that was found in state of Pernambuco, Brazil and is referenced by Fragmentos de Mata Atlantica do Nordeste: 143, 2006
