Aechmea tillandsioides, it's name meaning 'looks like a Tillandsia'. This specie is widely distributed in the Amazonian basin but is also represented all the way to Mexico. A variable bromeliad with red or yellow flower bracts. Epiphytic in habit.

This clone has yellow flower bracts. Being a smallish Aechmea it could stay in a 4" pot as a single plant. However with the numerous offsets it produces it will get it moved to a larger pot.

I purchased this from Michael's Bromeliads in 2007.
