Neoregelia 'Michi' has the Grant Groves stamp of approval, a hybrid from his nursery aptly named 'Color Zone'. Listed as a cross of 'Pink Sensation' x 'Royal Cordovan' this clone is characterized by long lasting pink foliar coloration in a manageable 14-16 inch spread.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in a tour of Color Zone, thru a society meet. 

I photographed this plant immediately after returning home. Note the cleanliness of the plant and pot. This was typical of all the plants in the shadehouses, the whole nursery is kept spotless. Run as a full time commercial endeavour this nursery is on par with the best, surpassing some larger nurseries I've toured.

The root mass is just that .. a well developed root mass - proper growing medium, fertilizer, airflow, and light levels yield a consistently superior product.
